Johnny Lee Jackson (1969-2008), more famously known as “Johnny J” was a rapper, record producer and songwriter. Johnny J got his first big break in 1990 producing “Knockin’ Boots” for Candyman, which certified platinum. He was introduced to Tupac by Big Syke and soon after the two began working on “Pour Out A Little liquor” which was featured in the Above The Rim movie soundtrack. He was considered by many to be Pac’s favorite producer, collaborating on over 100 tracks thereafter. Johnny J went on to produce many of Tupac’s albums (see below), including “all eyez on me”, one of the most influential albums in hip-hop history.
Let’s pay tribute to an individual who was instrumental in the success of Tupac’s career. Johnny J would’ve turned 42 on August 28.
